Born with a passion for bold, authentic flavours, Hadrien Girod spent years travelling across South and South-East Asia, absorbing the rich culinary heritage of each region. From the bustling street markets of Bangkok to the vibrant spice bazaars of Colombo, every journey deepened his love for the craft.
Trained in classical French technique and inspired by Asian traditions, Hadrien blends the precision of European cuisine with the soul of South Asian cooking. His dishes are a bridge between two worlds — each plate a reflection of his travels, memories, and devotion to fresh, honest ingredients.
Today, Mokaï is the culmination of that lifelong journey — a place where every meal tells a story and every bite carries the warmth of a culture he calls home.
Our Origin
The Birth of Mokaï
Mokaï was born out of a simple desire: to bring the vibrant, layered flavours of South and South-East Asia to the heart of Nice, France. What started as a dream shared over shared plates became a reality when Hadrien Girod opened the doors of Mokaï in 2019.
From the intimate dining room to the open-plan kitchen, every corner of Mokaï reflects our philosophy — honest cooking, pure ingredients, and a deep respect for culinary tradition. We are proud to serve a community that values authenticity as much as we do.
